Зачем это
Описывая родной город, постоянно нужны the park, in the street, by tram.
Правило
the — когда ясно, какой именно: the sun, the Kremlin, the Volga, the cinema (известный нам). in = в пространстве (in the park, in Moscow); on = на поверхности (on the bridge, on the wall); at = точка/событие (at the bus stop, at school, at 5 o’clock). Транспорт: by bus/tram/train/car/plane; но on foot; on the bus (когда мы внутри как пассажиры в контексте «на этом автобусе»).
Примеры
We live near the park.
The museum is in the city centre.
Meet me at the station at six.
There is a bridge on the river — wait: a bridge over the river; houses on the bank.
I go to school by bus. Sometimes I go on foot.
She is on the train now.
The sun rises in the east.
Так часто ошибаются
- by foot → on foot.
- in the bus stop → at the bus stop.
- go to home → go home (без to).
- Пропуск the с уникальным: Sun is hot → The sun is hot.
