Зачем это
В теме досуга говорим о книгах, фильмах, очках, брюках, ножницах.
Правило
Обычно +s: book → books. -s/-ss/-sh/-ch/-x/-o → -es: bus → buses, watch → watches, tomato → tomatoes. Согласная + y → -ies: city → cities (но day → days). f/fe часто → ves: leaf → leaves, knife → knives. Исключения: man–men, woman–women, child–children, foot–feet, tooth–teeth, mouse–mice. Только plural: trousers, jeans, scissors, glasses (очки), clothes. С ними — are, these.
Примеры
I read two books and watch films at the weekend.
Where are my glasses? I can’t see the board.
These jeans are new. (не This jean is…)
The children love sports.
Three tomatoes and two knives are on the table.
She has two teeth missing — a typical kids’ joke sentence.
My clothes are in the bag.
Так часто ошибаются
- a trousers / this scissors — нужны plural и often a pair of…
- childs, mans, foots.
- citys вместо cities; но keys не keyies.
- My glasses is → My glasses are.
Памятка
-es после s/sh/ch/x; y→ies; f→ves; children/men/feet. trousers/scissors/glasses — только мн. ч.
