1. Yesterday Mum and I went shopping. First we visited a big clothes shop in the centre. I needed a warm jacket for autumn and new school shoes. The jacket on the left was too expensive, but the blue one near the window fitted well. These trainers were light, and those boots looked heavy. I chose the trainers because I walk a lot. Then we went to the food market. Mum bought bread, cheese, tomatoes and a bottle of milk. I asked for apples and yoghurt. The shop assistant was friendly and helped us find fresh fruit. I learned useful phrases: How much is it? Can I try it on? Have you got this in a smaller size? We paid at the desk and put everything into a cloth bag. Plastic bags are not welcome in our family. On the way home we talked about prices and quality. Mum said it is smart to compare two things before you buy. In the evening I hung my jacket in the wardrobe and put the food into the fridge. Shopping can be tiring, but it is also a good chance to practise English numbers, colours and polite requests.
